About Pacific Modern

Architecture from the Pacific Northwest — wood, fog, and quiet modernism.

Coastal modernism, today

There's a regional architecture tradition on this coast — Schindler, Neutra, Belluschi, Yeon — that took European modernism and grew it through Douglas fir and redwood. Pacific Modern carries on that practice. Every house we design has to work for the weather, the local material economy, and the next hundred years of climate change.

What we stand for

Local materials

Wood from within 300 miles. Stone from within 100. The forest is the supplier.

Weather first

Roofs that shed rain, eaves that protect siding, foundations that handle the wet.

Daylight design

Northwest winters are dark. Window placement is half the work.
